Liquefied Phenol
» Liquefied Phenol is Phenol maintained in a liquid condition by the presence of about 10 percent of water. It contains not less than 89.0 percent by weight of C6H6O. It may contain a suitable stabilizer.
Caution—Avoid contact with skin because serious burns may result.
NOTE—When phenol is to be mixed with a fixed oil, mineral oil, or white petrolatum, use crystalline Phenol, not Liquefied Phenol.
Packaging and storage— Preserve in tight, light-resistant glass containers.
Labeling— Label it to indicate the name and amount of any substance added as a stabilizer.
Distilling range, Method I 721: not higher than 182.5, an air-cooled condenser being used.
Organic volatile impurities, Method I 467: meets the requirements.
Residual solvents 467: meets the requirements.

Other requirements— It responds to the Identification tests, and meets the requirements of the tests for Clarity of solution and reaction and Nonvolatile residue, under Phenol.
Assay— Proceed with Liquefied Phenol as directed in the Assay under Phenol.
