, cool, and immerse the beaker in an ice-water bath with the surfaces of the water and the test specimen at the same level. Insert a thermometer, and, using it as a stirring rod, begin stirring rapidly and steadily when the temperature falls below 20

Keep the thermometer immersed throughout the test, remove and inspect the beaker containing the test specimen at regular intervals, and record the temperature at which the immersed portion of the thermometer, positioned vertically in the center of the beaker, is no longer visible when viewed horizontally through the beaker and test specimen: the cloud point is not above 10
