Cardamom Oil
» Cardamom Oil is the volatile oil distilled from the seed of Elettaria cardamomum (L.) Maton (Fam. Zingiberaceae).
Packaging and storage— Preserve in tight, light-resistant containers.
Labeling— The label states the Latin binomial and, following the official name, the part of the plant source from which the article was derived.
Solubility in 70 percent alcohol— One volume dissolves in 5 volumes of 70 percent alcohol.
Specific gravity 841: between 0.917 and 0.947.
Angular rotation 781A: between +22 and +44.
Refractive index 831: between 1.463 and 1.466 at 20.
Arsenic, Method II 211: 3 µg per g.
Lead 251 Proceed as directed in the chapter, and use 10 mL of Diluted Standard Lead Solution for the test: not more than 0.001% is found.
Residual solvents 467: meets the requirements.
